Crayon cookies/cupcakes are basically old crayons melted together within muffin tins to look like cupcakes/cookies/according to Emma, Reese's cups. I cleaned my room yesterday, and found an old pack of art supplies which I didn't use anymore. I threw away the markers, nearly all of which were useless, and gave the coloured pencils to Ava. I spent a lot of time deciding on what to do with the crayons, as I didn't want to give them to the girls when 1) they were RoseArt (horrible quality!), and 2) the top row were deformed. So, after some internet browsing, I decided to make crayon cookies with them with Emma and Ava, the girls my mother occasionally babysits.
I saved the girls the trouble of unwrapping the crayons, because I figured such a menial task might kill their enthusiasm for the little project. I think some crayon got into my barely-there thumbnail, too, 'cause it huuuurts.
Pain. Complete. And utter pain. |
Then I gave the crayons to the girls to break, and we put the broken pieces into layered paper muffin-cups. I gave mine colour schemes, whereas Emma and Ava put theirs in at random.
The top corner full of only neutrals and the three surrounding it are mine, the four to the left are Emma's, and all the bottom are Ava's. |
Then we stuck 'em in the over for a while and watched them melt because we somehow find it to be a fascinating process. After maybe fifteen minutes or so (it at least felt very quick), we took them out and Mom found some space in the freezer for the wax to cool off for an hour and half. This is the final result:
I kind of want to eat them. My goodness, I'm a sophomore in high school, I can't be the kid eating crayons. |
These sides were on the bottom of the cup, and I was originally quite disheartened when I took the crayons out of the freezer to see only one colour. However, these sides were nice and colourful! I believe the bottom four are Emma's (I especially like the bright one in the left-hand corner), the top right four are Ava's, and I know the top left ones are mine. The girls took their crayon cookies home with them at the end of the day, along the late Christmas presents I found for them while cleaning my room.
One finds so many entertaining things which he or she has no use for while cleaning his/her room, and this is soooo convenient in the time before, during, or closely (or if you're me, quite a bit) after the holidays.
I have a lot of stuffed animals, too, mainly Beanie Babies. I found one named "Groom" last night, but he has no corresponding bride. I have consequently named him "Foreveralone Bear" and he and I are going to be bff, as I am "Foreveralone Andrea."
I'm really tired, but also in one of those moods where I don't want to lie upstairs in total nothingness and sleep, so I think I might bring the Sailor Moon disks I borrowed from Colby (speaking of Forever Alone, B'AAAAAAAAW I cry the Nile River) downstairs and watch those until I pass out (which will hopefully be soon).
A big bundle of several things, but mainly tired,
Andrea! <3

That's really smart!
I shall have to use this for when I babysit.
Which is quite often. x)
It's a pretty common craft, and just really fun with people who like bright and colourful things, haha. I told my best friend about it, and she wants to make some now. So I guess we have to buy some more crayons.
There's melted crayon art, as well, but that's potentially messier and won't turn out too well if low-quality crayons (such as my old RoseArts) are used. :< So I have to go get a batch of Crayolas sometime, whenever I decide to do those.
